as by the power of Thoth the adept, after
passing his ordeal, is introduced into the
presence of the forty-two judges in the Double
Hall, corresponding to the forty-two nomes or
provinces of Egypt, so also does that symbol
of Thoth enter into the hieroglyphic names
of every one of the nomes with but a single
exception.
