tribute to the utility of particular buildings : we will begin
with a private house in a city,
Inchusmg the situation, its vicinity to public edifices should
be principally attended to; that is, we should build as near as
convenient to the place where the business os the owner chiefly
calls him. Every one would wish to be near a church, but
especially a priest, a nobleman near the prince’s court, the
lawyer near the hall of justice, the merchant near the ex-
change, the trader in the principal slreet; and every other cT
