APPENDIX II.
TABLE OF ANALYSIS OF VAEIOUS SAMPLES FROM THE DARK
LINES IN THE ANTONINE WALL.
By Mr. George Paterson, of the Borax Works, Liverpool.
These samples were examined for vegetable matter in May and June, 1891.
The samples were, after careful drying, incinerated in a platinum dish, and
the loss in weight taken as vegetable or organic matter. The following is a
table of results so obtained :—
