M. Amelineau lias again announced07 his intention of editing all the
extant writings of Shenoute. The announcement is still vague, however.
Bat we learn with satisfaction that at least one German scholar is also
engaged upon this task, without question the first desideratum of Coptic
philology.
Mr. Horner's Bohairic Acts and Epistles are already in an advanced state.
Messrs. Forhes Bohinson and Cronin have undertaken a critical edition
of S. Luke in the Sa'idic version.
Prof. Steindorff hopes hefore long to publish his grammar of the Akhmirn
dialect, and also his enlarged Coptic chrestomathy.
M. Larminat announced, at the Boman Congress of Christian Archae-
ology, an edition in preparation of the much-discussed correspondence of
Acacius of Constantinople with Peter Mongus, already printed by Zoega
and Amelineau.
The present writer will publish, during the approaching winter, a large
collection of Coptic ostraca, gathered from various sources; also the volume
of the new Gizeh Catalogue (or Inventory) dealing with the inscribed
Coptic antiquities.
Prof. Strzygowski is engaged upon a volume in the same series,
embracing the remaining Christian antiquities at G-izeh.
