The " Society for the Instruction of the Orthodox Copts " publishes187a
a little year-book and calendar of the Coptic Church Year, which also
contains various useful information as to the activities of the modern
Egyptian Church.
The publication of a bibliography188 of the various editions of Bernhard
von Breydenbach's famous Pcregrinatio ad loca sancta, by H. W. Davies,
makes it worth noticing that in this book (first edition, 11 February, 1486)
is found the first representation of the Coptic alphabet in Europe: a
reproduction is given in Plate 41 of the Bibliography; the alphabet
consists of thirty-two letters, including the numeral-letter stigma.
The notice189 of Bobert Atkinson in the new Supplement to the
Dictionary of National Biography contains a brief account of his Coptic
studies and his famous criticisms of the texts published by Bossi and
Bouriant.
