Les conditions d'hygiène exigées par le confort moderne
tendent à profcrirel'ufage des Chambres à Alcôve, dont la ven-
tilation ne peut jamaiss'opirerd'une façon complète. Les beaux
types qui nous reftent de ces fortes d'appartements font ordi-
nairement revêtus de lambris de toute hauteur, à la réferve du
pourtour intérieur de l'alcôve, garni d'étoftes femblables à
celles du lit. Il était d'ufage de faire régner la corniche du
plafond fur le devant de la grande ouverture à chambranle.
Les deux garde-robes latérales étaient éclairées par des portes
vitrées ou des deffus de porte à glaces avec gazes peintes par
derrière. — Cette alcôve, compofée par P. Patte (p. 29),
architecte du Prince palatin, duc de Deux-Ponts, a été exécutée
en l'hôtel de ce prince à Paris (1777).

thefe forts of apartments are generally adorned with vain-

ceiling on the front of the large opening with chambranle.
The two lateral wardrobes took light by glafs-doors or glaffes
