A plusieurs reprises, l'Art pour tous a montré des composi-
tions extraites des cahiers dessinés par G. P. Cauvet, maître
fécond de la fin du xvin" siècle. Celle que nous présentons est
destinée, à en juger par les ombres portées sur les objets, à être
peinte en camaïeu sur les parois d'un appartement, mais elle
est digne d'inspirer en même temps un sculpteur ou un orfèvre,
tant l'agencement en est heureux, les détails soignés et disposés
avec soin.

The Art pour tous has several times reproduced compositions
out of the books of drawings by G. P. Cauvet, a fertile master
of the end of the xvinth century. The one we give to-day was
destined, as may be surmised by the shading throvvn upon the
objects, to be painted in camco on the walls of a room ; yet it
is worthy of inspiring a sculptor or silversmith so happy is
its ordering, and so carefully treated and disposed are its
détails.
