and ornated bearns. Each large cofl'er is itself subdivided in smal-
ler compartments covered witb gold embossments ol a perfect
élégance and fineness. The whole hall bas for its main décoration
the seveii libéral arts, wherefrom cornes its présent namc of

lantes et ornées. Chaque grand caisson est lui-mémo subdivisé
en caissons plus petits, couverts de damasquines d'or d'une élé-
gance et d'une finesse parfaites. La salle entière a pour déco-
ration principale les sept arts libéraux, d'où lui vient le nom
actuel de chambre des arts. Le château d'Ancy-le-Franc, œuvre
du Primatice, appartient à M. le duc de Clermont-Tonnerrc, et il
a été construit par un de ses ancêtres.
