La forme générale de cette ontainc n'olTre rien d'absolument
heureux. — On n'y voit guère, en réalité, qu'une succession de
formes rondes ou arrondies ne décelant aucun effort d'imagi-
nation , aucune recherche sérieuse du beau. Mais si on passe à
l'examen des chimères et des dragons ailés qui décorent les
flancs du vase, on est émerveillé de la façon dont ils sont exé-
cutés et fondus. — Les nielles, que nous n'avons pu réserver en
lumière comme sur l'original, sont aussi remarquables à plus
d'un litre.

The gênerai form of this fountain présents nothing absolutely
praisc-worthy. — Indeed, therein one sees little but a succession
of rounded or roundish shapes disclosing no great effort of ima-
gination, no serious seeking of what is handsome. But an exa-
minât ion of tho chimerœ and winged dragons, which decorate the
vasc's belly, will strikc one with wonder for the fashion in which
they bave been executed and cast, — The niellos, to which \ve
were unable to give the liglit they enjoy in the original, arc
remarkable, loo, on more than one respect.
