Les pieds seuls de cette table sont en marbre. Le dessus est
en mosaïque et nous en donnons la moitié fig. 2618. — Ajou-
tons que si les pieds à griffes et à têtes de lions sont d'un baut
style et d'une parfaite exécution, la mosaïque est en revanche
assez naïve et banale. Le mosaïste n'a pu se mettre à la hau-
teur du sculpteur.

The feet alone of tins table are marble. The rest is mosaic,
and we give half of tliis in fig. 2018. We may add that if the
clavved feet and the lion's heads are of an elevated style and
perfect exécution, the mosaic is, on the contrary, naïve and
common-place. The mosaist could not riso to the lovel of the
sculptor.
