C'est dans l'ancien palais des ducs de Bavière, à Landshut,
que nous empruntons ces fragments d'un plafond peint il
fresque. Il sont évidemment l'œuvre d'un artiste italien, et
rappelleraient assez les grotesques de Jules Romain, si la
composition ne décelait une certaine maigreur. Ces fresques
sont remarquables pourtar.t à cause de leur caractère d'impro-
visation et de l'extrême facilité de l'artiste, qui semble les
avoir jetées du premier coup sur l'enduit, sans étude préa-
lable, se fiant à son incomparable habileté.
