XVIIIe SIÈCLE. — orfèvrerie persane. PLATEAU D'AIGUIÈRE EN CUIVRE GRAVÉ.

Nous montrons le plateau de l'aiguière publiée dans le préco-
dent numéro. Ce plateau, en cuivre ciselé et à double fond, est
ajouré dans sa partie centrale. — Le sujet semble être une
chasse, car on y remarque dos animaux divers, à travers les
enroulements et les fleurs découpées.— Cette partie du plateau
est remarquable par son exécution, et témoigne d'une patience et
d'une habileté extraordinaires —Le marli du'plateau, divisé par
zones, montre des ornements courants d'un beau dessin et d'une
série de scènes religieuses. — Ici encore on s'est souvenu des
xv' et xvi° siècles, et les ornements répètent ceux usités à cette
époque.

number. ïhis coppor tray is chiselled and with a double bot-
tom ; its central part is openworkod. The design represents
seemingly a hunting scène, animais being figured amidst the
openworked scrolls and foliage. This part of the article is're-
markable and dénotes great patience and extrême cleverness.
The rim of the tray is divided in several zones anddecorated with
well designod running ornaments and with roligious scènes.
Ilere again we find réminiscences of the xvi"1 century, in the
ornaments which are a reproduction of those employed at tbat
epoch.
