Ce reliquaire faisait autrefois partie de la collection Debruge-
^uoienil, puis de la collection Soltjkoff. Il appartient au-

This reliquary from the Debruge-Dumcnil collection passed
to the Soltykoff collection ; it belongs now, if \vo err not, to
baron Sellière. It is unquestionably ono of tho most charm-
ing exatnples of the goldsmith's work of the Middle Vges,
ai.d assuredly one of the most gracious, liveliest and bright-
est wc know of.
The birds play a most important décorative and possiblysym-
bolical part. Precious stoncs, uncut gems, eut rock crystal, lili-
greework, whlch are profusely lavished, give to the ornamen-
tation of this gracious pièce of work dating from St-Louis'
time a decided character of artistical poetry and perfection.
