XVI8 SIÈCLE. — école française. COFFRETS EN CRISTAL ET RRONZE DORÉ.
(AU MUSÉE DU LOUVRE. — GALERIE D'APOLLON. )
Dans le coffret supérieur, le cristal est blanc et la monture ré-
duite à sa plus simple expression. — 11 n'en est pas de même
dans le second, où celle-ci vient jouer un rôle important et très
décoratif; des figures à l'antique ont trouvé place aux angles
du coffret, abritées do dais circulaires. — L'entrée de la serrure
est d'un joli travail et le cristal est coloré.

Tbe mounting of tlic upper cristal casket plays as far as pos-
sible, no part at ail, but such is not tbe case with tbe lower one,
wbere its part is important and vory décorative. Antique figu-
res under round canopies ornament tbe angles. The front part
of the lock is charmingly worked out ; and tbe cristal is
coloured, while it is whitc in tbo upper one.
