Le manteau est en velours rouge d'un tou éclatant. Les
crfrois et le collet sont brodés en soie et en or fin. L'image
ci-dessus de l'adoration de l'enfant Jésus, inscrite dans un
cartouche richement orné, fait partie du collet. Contrairement
a l'usage, la Vierge seule est nimbée. On remarquera l'ampleur
et lu puissance des ornements qui ont pris place autour du sujet
Principal. (Voyez dans un précédent numéro, page 2199, un des
"lottfs de l'orfroi.)

The cloak is in red volvet of a very brighj tone. The orfreys
as well as the collar are embroidered vvith silk and fine gold.
The Adoration of Infant Christ as shown above is framed in a
richly decoratcd cartouche ; it ornaments the collar. Contrary
to the usual custom, the Virgin alone has a nimbus. Every one
must notice the fulness and power of the ornaments surroun-
ding the central composition. (Sce in one of our prececding
numbers, p. 2199, one of the designs decorating the orfrey.)
