PLAT DE FAÏENCE ITALIENNE.
Un enfant nu, monté sur un cerf et franchissant un vaste torrent bordé de montagnes, occupe
le centre du plat. — Les parties lumineuses du sujet du milieu paraissent obtenues au grattoir
et se dessinent sur un fond d’une coloration vigoureuse. —Le reste du plat, formant un inarli
ingénieux, montre trois réseaux de valeurs différentes et d’ornements divers. — Les motifs ex-
trêmes dessinent des ornements courants, au milieu desquels prennent place des entrelacs d’allure
et de calibre plus volumineux.

The centre of this italian dish is occupied by a nakedchild riding astag and leaping across a
wide torrent bordered by mountains. The luminous parts of the central composition seern to
hâve been obtained by the scraper and show out upon a background of vigorous colouring. The
remaining part of the dish forms a clever disposed rim showing various ornaments of different
value. The running ornaments of its borders are separated by strapwork of an ampler design.
