XXVI. ATHENS
The only Egyptian objects found in Athens antedate by far our knowledge of any
historic connections. There is no trace of anything which could be dated to the great
period of Athenian trade. As in the case of Thebes, it looks as if these three small
works must be the "souvenirs" of some returned adventurer of the Late Geometric
Period rather than the evidence of peaceful trade.
