“THE STUDIO” PRIZE COMPETITIONS
LIST OF AWARDS.
CLASS A. DECORATIVE ART.
A vm. Design for a Necklet and Pendant.
This competition has been productive of comparatively
few designs of real merit, and those we now reproduce
represent the pick of them. As competitors were allowed
a free hand in regard to materials, and the illustrations in
themselves give no clue to these, we give under each a
brief description of them. In most of the designs the
decorative motif is of the usual conventional type, either
geometrical or derived from the plant world, but in a few
cases some novel ideas have found expression. For in-
stance, in Rainbow's prize design a pretty device, symbol-
izing the rainbow and sun, forms the chief feature of the
pendant, the rainbow being represented by an arc of parti-
coloured enamel and the sun by an opal. In 7kora's
design the leaf and fruit of the grape are cleverly utilized
in conjunction with an enamel representation of the “ Fox
and Grapes.” The awards are as follows :—-

12 Lincroft Street, Manchester).
