HORATIO WALKER, N. A.
AMERICAN (CANADA): 1858—
5. SUNSET ONER A SNOW-BOUND PASTURE
An extensive plain, whose level is broken only by a tussock in the right
foreground; the far horizon is vividly scarred with the orange and red of the
sunset. The ground is deeply covered in snow; between the wind-threshed
clumps of bare sedge at left and right a flock of sheep is huddling forward into
the foreground where stands their shepherd, in fur cap, blue cloak and scarlet
sash, looking toward the sunset.
Signed at lower left, Horatio Walker, and dated., 1911
Height, 28 inches; length, 38 inches
