La broderie appelée ordinairement « Guipure » est un mélange
de la broderie dV/pjjf irai ion et de la broderie, au lancé. C'est la
plus riche sous le rapport des matières employées. Elle met
souvent en œuvre les fils d'or et d'argent, les plumes, les pier-
reries, etc. La guipure ci-dessus est simple de matière, mais
singulièrement compliquée (le dessin. Les pleins sont bien
combinés comme val utr avec les vides, et le rhylhme des entre-
lacs est des plus ingénieux. x'

Maltese lace is of plain materials, but of a very complicate
design.
The blanks and full parts artistically combine togetber, and
the twines are nicely and barmoniously contrived.
