Le modelé sculptural des monstres et des oiseaux de proie
qui décorent ce vase étrange, est obtenu par plans. L'artiste a
fait bon marché des détails réalistes qui auraient pu porter
atteinte au caractère qu'il a voulu imprimer à l'objet. 11 fau-
drait des pages entières et une connaissance approfondie des
mœurs du Japon pour pouvoir décrire ce bronze d'une valeur
inestimable.

The sculptural modelling of tho monsters and birds of prey
which decorate this strange vase, is produced by planes. The
artist lias made littlo account of tho realistic détails which
miglit have interfered with tho character lie wished to stamp
on his work. It would require niany pages and an intimatc
acquaintance with the manners and customs of Japau to give a
proper description of this invaluable bronze.
