The Limoges enamel for which this frame so exquisite as re-
gards taste and so perfect as regards exécution was made is due
to Mr Claudius Popelyn. It represents Gaston de Foix, duke of
Nemours, nephevv to Louis XII and governor of the Milanese. The
frame is chiselled in alto-relievo; on the left, France in mour-
ning and bewailing the Death of Gaston, leans on lier sword;
on the right, Victory ready to take her flight, crowns the hero
with a wreath of laurel.
