FRAGMENT D’UNE GRILLE EN FER FORGE.

(AU MUSÉE DE CLUNY, A PARIS.)

Panneau d’une grille à rinceaux, en fer forgé. Nous ignorons
la provenance de ce beau fragment, que nous reproduisons
presque de la grandeur de l’original. Nous signalerons la finesse
des enroulements et la hardiesse des tiges, qui, se trouvant
répétés, devaient produire un effet de grand style, comme le
xmc siècle seul savait en créer.

Panel of a grating in wrought-iron foliage. We are ignorant
of the origin of this fine fragment which we reproduce nearly
full size of the original; we call attention to the elegance of
the scroll work and the boldness of the branches which being
often repeated inakes a fine effect and shows a style such as
the xiuth century alone knew how to produce.
