St. Luke (with full-page initial) are missing.]
There is no fly-leaf at the beginning : the ornamented
frontispiece to Matthew is the first page.
At the end of Matthew is: Finit amen deo gratias ergo.
Mark has full page frontispiece and two lines of text.
The colours are dull purplish red, yellow, black, white.
At end of Mark : Amen deo gratias finit.
Two leaves are gone, with the beginning of Luke.
At end of Luke : Finit amen.
•John has full page frontispiece and four lines of text.
At end of John : Finit amen.
(Immediately following this is the Anglo-Saxon matter.)
P.I. iii. Vellum : 10 x 7 : ft. 101 : Cent. xii.
Late binding. 28 lines to the page : a few initials fairly orna-
mented and the script excellent throughout. No marks of
provenance.
On a fly-leaf is this note (xiii late) :
Anno regni regis edwardi terciodecimo in crastino
invencionis sancte crucis perierunt per grandinem
apud benwebruge novem cigni juvenes.
If this is Peinbridge, the book has been long in these parts,
and is most likely a Cathedral book.
Collation not possible owing to very tight binding.
