ii. Shop-Bill for Moore and Co., Carpet Manufacturers;

A section of the interior of the factory with girls working ou a
Persia and Turkey carpet-loom in the centre, a stocking-frame right,
and three boys at a common carpet-loom left. The manager is prou y
showing a lady round. Above rise two columns. At the base of one
a girl weaves ; two boys, left, roll up carpets. The pillars, swathe
in carpeting, rise into clouds from which in a glory burst the R°Y^
Arms, beneath which, in every variety of lettering, is At Moore &
Co.'s Manufactory and Warehouse of Carpeting and Hosiery, Chigwell
Street, Moorfields, the greatest variety of carpets from the lowest Scotcti,
& Kidderminster, Wilton & Brussels, to the finest Axminster, Turkey

Russell dates this engraving “ about 1790." It is certainly very
close to the illustrations to Mary Wollstonecraft's stories, descnbea
in the next numbers.

[13-17]. Six illustrations to an edition of Original Stories fromReal Life,
by Mary Wollstonecraft. The stories were first published m i7»»
but Blake's engravings first appeared in the edition of 1791* n t e
edition of 1796 they have been re-worked.

Blake made ten drawings for this little book, though only six were
used. One was engraved on wood for Gilchrist's Life. The who e
set is now in the collection of Mr. A. E. Newton.

before breakfast. Above, Frontispiece. Below, Blake d. & sc.—Look
what a fine morning it is. Insects, Birds, & Animals, are all enjoying

Second State: Part of the skirt of Mrs. Mason's dress is left white.
