BRONZE TESSERJ3.

No. 1. C.IVNIVS

HERMETVS

Length, 2T4y- in. One end is pierced with a loop for
suspension ; the other end terminates in a pyramidal knob.
A mass of ancient iron adheres to two sides of the tessera,
hut there is no sign of writing on these sides. Ritschl,
Rhein. Mus. xxi. p. 470; Wieseler, Comment, de Tesseris,
i. p. 5.'

HERMETVS

Length, 2h in. One end terminates in a loop for suspen-
sion. At the other end is a knob. From the Fejervary-
Pulsky collection, of which see Sale Catalogue, 1868, No.
324. The letters are not satisfactory. Another bronze
tessera, bearing the same name and the additional lines

MPELCEP'lD'qACAT is published hy Bitschl (No. 3, pi. iii.
b) as suspected.
