analysis, primarily of the structures of buildings and ornamental compositions,
testified to the young scholar’s sound knowledge of the research methodologies
introduced to art history by such experts as Hans Sedlmayr and Siegfried
Giedon. The enduring value of Lorentz’s work on Glaubitz is evident in the
fact that although the archival base has been broadened and the expertise
about Vilnius architecture has been supplemented with new discoveries,
the book nevertheless remains the fundamental work about this artist.
