Apart from the brass English movement there was another, pillar frame
movement, derived from the Continental tradition, madę of Steel, rarely of
Steel and wood, in which the yertical plates were replaced by pairs of fiat bars
(usually three) inserted in horizontal plates, forming a cage. Upper and lower
