who made an apology that he could not
lodge us, but in other respe&s shewed us
many civilities; particularly in giving us
the use of his carriage, in explaining the
ruins, in pointing out every thing that
was worthy of our attention ; and likewise
in giving us letters of recommendation for
Malta. He is a gentleman of good sense,
