48. Garofalo.—Christ and the Woman of Samaria at
the Well; a few figures also seen in a picturesque
and beautiful distance. The composition simple and
the expression fine : a building introduced in the
centre, in shadow, gives a brilliant relief to the figure
of the female: the draperies, as is usual in the works
of Garofalo, are rich and finely coloured. 220 10 0
