LONDON
By
ALVIN LANGDON COBURN
With an Introduction by
HILAIRE BELLOC
Folio Boards. $6.00 net.
qTh is collection of photographs of London has been
in preparation by Mr. Coburn for the past five years
but technically they represent the latest development
of his art.
Mr. Coburn is a master of photographic printing.
The photogravure plates in this volume are made by
Mr. Coburn himself and printed by him. The pictures
are marvels of impressionism. Mr. Coburn, like
Whistler, looks at London imaginatively, and he has
compelled his camera to give what he has seen in the
London he photographed. It is London seen by the
imagination of Mr. Coburn. That is the astonishing
achievement here realized. If photography is to be
an art, this book is certainly the art’s finest expression.
