37. Upper part of a statuette of calcareous stone. Height, 111 inches. Found in
the temple (Golgoi).
Surface worn and defaced; features damaged; back flat, and roughly finished. A sleeve-
less under-garment, and over it a himation passing over the left shoulder and below the right;
the hair or wig is ridged above the forehead, and falls in three tresses on each shoulder; traces
of red color on the himation or upper garment.
38. Statuette of calcareous stone. Height, 8& inches. Found in the temple (Golgoi).
Lower part, from the waist downwards, wanting; tight-fitting garment without sleeves;
a broad belt partly broken off; hair, or wig, with three tresses falling on each shoulder, and
arranged in front. Traces of red color on head, belt, and garment.
39. Statuette of calcareous stone. Height, 1 foot 5$ inches. Found in the temple
(Golgoi).
Broken off below the knees; the left leg is advanced; the hair, or wig, arranged in
three flat tresses, falls on each shoulder. A long tight-fitting garment terminates below the
knees, the folds between the legs being indicated by incised parallel lines. An upper fold,
or diplois, is doubled back; both arms hang by the sides, the hands grasping the gar-
ment. Spiral ear-rings and traces of red color all over the upper fold, or diplois.
40. Statuette of calcareous stone. Height, 7J inches. Found in the temple (Golgoi).
Broken below the knees; surface worn and chipped; the arms hang down by the
sides; the left leg is advanced. Three tresses of hair fall on each shoulder; a long
sleeveless robe, with upper fold, or diplois, doubled back, as in No. 39. Traces of red color
on the head-dress, bordering the forehead, at the borders of the robe and its upper fold.
