635. Calcareous stone. Height, 1 foot 61 inches. From a necropolis (Salamis).
Recumbent lion, with head turned to the front; right paw* crossed on the left;

the tail is curled under the body and over the haunch. Portion of the base, on the
left, broken off. Traces of red color on the tongue, which is protruding.

636. Calcareous stone. Height, 1 foot 2 inches. From the necropolis (Golgoi).
Top of a sepulchral stele; a recumbent lion, between two palmette ornaments. A

horizontal line divides the base, on which the lion is resting, from the stele, which is
almost entirely broken away.

637. Calcareous stone. Height, 1 foot I inch. From the necropolis (Golgoi).
Fragment of a mortuary stele, representing a recumbent lion, with head turned to

the front, and the tongue protruding, on which are traces of red color; the hinder part
of the lion broken away.

638. Calcareous stone. Height, 91 inches. From the ruins of the temple of
Apollo Hylates, at Curium. Architectural fragment, with lion's head in projected relief.

Head and fore quarters of a crouching lion.

Front portion of a lion, seated on the hind legs, with head turned to the front.

The mane is merely blocked out in a plain, raised surface, with irregular outlines. The
ribs are indicated. Traces of red color on the protruded tongue.

642. Calcareous stone. Height, 2 feet \ inch. From a tomb at Amathus.
Upper part of a sepulchral stele, on which is a reversed crescent above a disk,

with sides curving outward, and crowned by a moulding. Above this, two lions, back
to back, seated on their hind quarters, with heads turned to the front.
