312. Red terra cotta, exterior now gray. Height, 5 A inches. Found at Kiti, at the
Salines near Larnaca, in the vicinity of the ruins of the temple of Artemis Paralia.
Figure of an attendant of Demeter, with cista. Hair gathered with a jewel ornament at
top of forehead, whence it is combed back in curving bands to the back of the head; whence a
peplos falls down behind. Dress, a chiton clasped at the shoulders, with diplois confined by a
zonion just below the breasts. The peplos covers the left arm behind the cistci, but hangs in the
rear of, and touching, the naked, pendent right arm.
313. Red terra cotta, exterior now mostly blackish gray. Height, 6 inches. Found in
same locality with the last.
Female figure, in good Greek style; hair dressed high above the forehead; peplos falling
from the back of the head; large ear-rings; necklace. Dress, a chiton, and a himation beneath
which the arms are folded, as if carrying something in the left arm. Left knee bent slightly
forward. Has the general air of a woman walking in a religious procession.
314. Red terra cotta. Height, 5% inches. Found near the last.
Figure of youth, wearing a low petasus, a chiton, and chlamys; the latter covering the
arms. Right arm pendent; the left bent from the elbow across the breast. Of good Greek style.
315. Red terra cotta, exterior now gray. Height, 4% inches. Found near the last.
Figure of attendant of Demeter, with cista in left hand; right arm bent at the elbow, and
the hand holding the himation together, over the breast. Other dress, a chiton, close-fitting,
revealing the body, except where it falls in perpendicular folds. Hair dressed high above the
forehead, in the style of certain classes of attendants of the goddess.
