369. Red terra cotta. Height, 2% inches. Found at the temple of Apollo Hylates,
near Curium. (This place is called by the natives Apellon, formerly Hyles.)
Upper part of figure of a curly-headed boy; a himation wrapped in tight folds about the
neck, and held together by the left hand from within. Of good Greek style.
370. Red terra cotta, exterior now grayish salmon color. Height, 2% inches. Found
at same place as last.
Figure of a child, seated on the ground, with right knee bent perpendicularly, holding in
the right hand a ball or fruit; the left arm partially supporting the leaning body. Surface
much worn. Head broken off, and reset.
371. Red terra cotta. Height, 2^ inches. Found at same place as last.
Fragment of relief. Female seated on a rock, or pile of rocks; hair dressed high above
the head; mantle (himation) blowing away from her shoulders behind, but still over her left fore-
arm ; otherwise nude. The left hand holds what seems to be a torch; the right arm, stretched a
little away from the body, rests on the rock; heavy bracelet on right wrist. Seems to be
Demeter on her return from Hades.
372. Red terra cotta. Height, 3^ inches. Found at same place as last.
Fragment of upper portion of nude boy, wearing a low tiara on the head. Shoulders
raised and arms bent forward; head turned a little towards the right. Style and position almost
exactly that of the Ares of the Villa Ludovisi at Rome. Fine Greek style and execution.
373. Red terra cotta, exterior now gray. Height, 2% inches. Found at same place
as last.
Fragmentary trunk and limbs of nude and obese figure, seated on the ground ;»the
posture much resembling that of No. 370. This class of figures much resemble a certain kind of
figure in both stone and terra cotta, found in great abundance near the same spot.
