III. The annual register directed in Clause Sixth to be kept by the
resident and forwarded to the Governor-General in Council is, from the
date of the abolition of the residency, to be prepared by the collector and
forwarded by him to the Board of Revenue.
IV. No provision in land shall be granted to invalids in future, under
the rules contained in Section II. which are to be considered as applicable
to such grants only as have been already made in conformity to them.

I. ON grounds similar to those stated in the preamble to Regula-
tion XI. 1793, for removing certain restrictions to the operation of the
Hindoo and Mahomedan laws with regard to the inheritance of landed
property subject to the payment of revenue to Government, in the pro-
vinces of Bengal, Behar, and Orissa, the following rules have been enacted
for the province of Benares.
II. After the hrst day of the Fussily year 1204, if any talookdar,

III. If any talookdar, zemindar, or other actual proprietor of land

IV. It is to be understood, that if any one or more of such sharers
shall apply to have the separate possession of his or their share or shares,
the proportion of the public jumma charged upon the whole estate which
