See See. x. II. The ZVewMcMI, Zillah, and City Civil Courts, shall be annually
3g i. isos, adjourned during the Hindoo festival called Dussarah, which occurs in the
Bengal month Assin or Kartick, corresponding with the English month
September or October ; and aiso during the Mahomedan festival Mohurrem,
which depending on the lunar year is not hxed to any particular month.
The former adjournment (or Dussarah vacation) shall commence ten days
before this festival, and continue for the period of one month of thirty
days : the latter adjournment (or Mohurrem vacation) shall commence hve
days before this festival, and continue for hfteen days. Under this rule,
when the time of the two festivals may coincide, the vacations also will of
course be blended, and no separate adjournment will be necessary : except
as far as the hxed period for the one may extend beyond that of the other ;
as when part of the Mohurrem vacation only may fall within the period
hxed for the Dussarah vacation; or on the other hand, when part of the
latter only may tall within the period of the former.
III. The Court of Sudder Dewanny Adawlut are authorized to adjourn
that court during the periods of the two vacations above mentioned, or
otherwise, as they may judge proper.
