the Company, who shall be styled " Collector of the Revenue " of the civil servants of the
zillah to which he shall be appointed. Previously to entering upon the ^"o^imobetakenby
execution of the duties of his office, he shall take the oath prescribed by the collectors.

III. The collectors shall correspond with the Board of Revenue, and Collectors to corre-

IV.-The collectors of the several zillahs shall use a circular seal, one
inch and a half in diameter, bearing an inscription thereon to the following
effect, in the Persian character and language, and in the Hindostanee lan-
guage and Nageree character: " The seal of the collector of the zillah

VI. The duties prescribed in the following section shall be performed
by the collectors, under the superintendence of the Board of Revenue.
VII. ZW^. To collect the amount of the revenue assessed upon the
lands of the zemindars, independent talookdars, or other actual proprie-
tors of land, with or on behalf of whom a settlement has been or shall be
concluded.
NkcwzZ To collect the stipulated annual revenue from the farmers of
estates let in farm.
ZAz^Z To levy the rents and revenue from estates held khas or amauny.
ZbzM'fA. To make the future settlement of khas, or of farmed estates,
agreeably to the Regulations and the instructions which they shall receive
for that purpose.
ZY/iZ. To prosecute for the recovery of the dues of Government from
lands,, of whatever description, held exempt from the payment of revenue
unde? illegal or invalid tenures.
ZAzYA. To pay the pensions and allowances included in, or chargeable
on, the public revenue, and all other pensions and compensations, which
shall be granted or confirmed under Regulation XXIV. 1863.
;SY?)d?ZA. To execute the instructions wdiich shall be issued to them by
the Court of Wards, regarding disqualified landholders and their estates.
ZYt/AfA. To superintend the division of landed, property paying revenue
to Government, which shall be ordered to be divided into two or more dis-
tinct estates.
To apportion the public revenue on lands ordered to be disposed
of at public sale for the discharge of arrears of revenue or in satisfaction
of the decrees of the Court of Judicature.
Zc^A. To collect the tax on spirituous liquors and intoxicating drugs
