IV. f 7^'z^A. The said commissioners shail, untii otherwise specihcally
provided for by iaw, possess and exercise within the several districts com-
prised in their respective divisions, the powers and authority now vested
in the Boards of Revenue and Courts of Wards, subject to the control and

given to the ziHah judges. The appointments of law officers of the Provincial Courts of
Appeal and Circuit were abolished by Sec. vii. Reg. III. 1829. The powers which the
commissioners of circuit might (under the general transfer of the powers of judges of circuit
to them under this section) exercise in the appointment and removal of ministerial and police
officers subordinate to magistrates, were transferred to the superintendent of police by Sec. iv.
Act XXIV. 1837. Though Sec. iii. has not been repealed, its provisions are virtually super-
seded by the actual transfer of the duty of holding sessions to the zillah judges under
Reg. VII. 1831, and Act VII. 1835.
