or with the offence of having belonged to a gang of Thugs, made punish- °^hu^.
able by Act No. XXX. of 1836, may be committed by any magistrate or
joint magistrate within the territories of the East-India Company for trial
before any Criminal Court competent to try such person on such charge.
* The provisions of this Act are extended to dacoity by Act XXIV. 1843 ; and Thuggee
is dehned in Act III. 1848.
