WHEREAS it will lessen the delay and expense of appeals, if the powers
possessed by zillah and city judges of confirming decisions on certain
appeals without serving any notice on the respondents, are extended to
principal sudder aumeens, it is enacted as follows:
I. The powers given to ziilah and city judges, by Clause Third, Sec-
tion XVI. of Regulation V. 1831, of the Bengal code, are extended to
principal sudder aumeens, in all appeals referred to them.
II. Every judge and principal sudder aumeen who shall confirm any
decision under the said Regulation, or this Act, without giving notice to
the respondent, shall record his reasons for rejecting the appeal.

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the constitution and practice, and
to extend the jurisdiction of the several courts established at Calcutta,
