PLATE XVIII.

A general View of the West side of the new Elgin Gallery,
shewing the disposition of the various objects, especially of the
figures which adorned the pediments. The Metopes are all placed
upon this side of the room, and arranged in the order in which
they were situated on the original building. The whole of the
Elgin collection of Marbles has been deposited in this magnificent
Saloon, built purposely for their reception, 145 feet in length, and
37 feet in breadth, since the publication of the preceding Part of
this Work.
