CUPID.

In this plate is represented a back view of the statue just
described. The long hair, so characteristic of Cupid, may be
observed; but it will be remarked that there is no appearance of
wings, or of holes for rivets by which they might have been
attached ; nor are there any indications of the belt so conspicuous
in the front view, and appearing to pass all round the body,
for the purpose of sustaining something, probably a quiver.
