The Ox-driving of

In this context Haussoullier aptly cites from Hesychios the
following gloss: ' Zeus' ox, i.e. the sacred ox, set free for Zeus; thlS
is a festival of the Milesians1.' He further attempts to reconstruc
some details of the ' ox-driving' from a consideration of analog°uS
customs elsewhere. Thus in the neighbouring island of Kos2 011
