This late recital includes some early traits. In particular, the monstrous ^oa'on a b''
in a Cretan cave is analogous to the Minotaur in the Labyrinth and may rest
of genuine 'Minoan' folk-belief. Cp. the goat-men on 'Minoan' gems (s"f'a^0g^
