Verbum, l, §§ 202, 253, 10, believes that wch
was a more ancient form of ych, and connected
with Semitic names of the moon. In abbre
viated writing of dates, ■^=" • is word-sign for
i/hd (?), " month," the last radical being shown
in the common variant * , while the other
radicals are indicated by a very late variant
^^, for ybt, "net" (Br., P. G., 1078), and
by Copt. eBuoT, " month," though the semi-
consonant is of course rather uncertain.

probably "shore," "bank" of river or sea.
