If on poit-days he has anv time leih, it is employed in his
laboratory; that is, in the completer! turner's shopthat ever
exiited. He is a most expert turner, and works toys to per-
fection. The shop contains many* turning engines of rare
invention, seme of which w*ere presents from the King of
France, and some contrived by Count Zaxzola, one of the
greatest mechanics of the age. Bv him his Majesty is attended
when working in the laboratory.
As to his perlonal character, he was certainly a good
husband when his Queen was alive. Never once did he
swerve from conjugal fidelity, nor ever had any mistrels
public or private. His brothers were always his belt friends
and most samiliar companions; and as to his children there
is no need os Dying,that he always proved a kind sather.
He is rather ?sn ealy, than an afieAionate matter, never de-
scending to great samiliarity with his servants, yet always ia-
tisfy'd with what they do. They sav that he never betrayed
any great love to any body* out of his own family, no more
than hatred. It happened once, that he detected one of his
molt familiar dome-sines in a Lye, and sorbad him his pretence,
But stiil continued him his salary. His converiation is gene-
