In a small structure, such as is here presupposed, it is better to take
the suggestion supplied by this private house rather than the analogies of
palatial corridors and halls, and we may well conclude that Miniature fresco
bands, which were probably of about the same width as the panels of the
' House of the Frescoes', started from the same height of 70 or 80 cm.,
and would in that case have been admirably set on the line of vision.
