411. 86.152 (23). Aryballos. H. 0.067 m.; D. 0.065 m.
Gift of the estate of Alfred Greenough.
Clay light brown. Body a flattened sphere; short neck, flat lip and strap
handle. Decoration in dull dark brown with added dark red: on the shoulder, a
brown tongue pattern; on the upper part of body, a red band between broad
brown bands; on the lip, brown concentric circles, with one red circle on central
brown band.

Clay pale gray. Spherical body, low base ring, small neck, flat lip, narrow
strap handle. Decoration in dull black glaze with applied dark red: on the
shoulder, short radial bars inside two horizontal circles; most of the body black,
divided by pairs of incised lines into vertical strips, in the centre of each a verti-
cal red line; near the bottom, two horizontal black lines and black circle on the
bottom; on the lip, radial bars; on the back of handle, a diagonal cross.

Clay pale buff. Body nearly spherical, small neck, wide flat lip, strap handle.
Decoration in slightly lustrous black glaze and applied dark red; the whole body
is black, divided by incised lines into narrow vertical sectors, of which every
second one has the top half or the bottom half alternately painted red.

Gift of B. W. Crowninshield, 1881. Repaired with slight restoration.
Clay pale gray buff. Body a slightly flattened sphere with depression in bot-
tom; small neck, wide flat lip, strap handle. Decoration in black glaze: on the
shoulder, radial bars; on the body three bands above and four below a zone
filled with dots; concentric circles on the lip, short strokes on edge of lip and
back of handle.

415. 81.160 (48). Aryballos (Lekythos). H. 0.15 m.; D. 0.12 m.
Gift of B. W. Crowninshield, 1881.
Clay pale warm buff. Body a slightly pear-shaped sphere with low base,
neck with cup mouth, strap handle from neck to shoulder. Vase entirely covered
with black glaze nearly down to the base; traces of horizontal red (and white?)
horizontal bands.
