art, architecture as a free expressional art is just con-
ceivable; but whether its abstract structural forms can
be made as expressive as the representational forms of
sculpture, is as much a debatable question as whether
“abstract sculpture,” such as that attempted by Mr.
Laurence Atkinson, can be made expressive of any
emotion at all.

AT all events so far as Fine art is concerned
we cannot find a dividing line between the
means of sculpture and the means of architec-
ture, both having to rely entirely on the creation of a
solid, that is to say a three dimensional silhouette, in
order to evoke a desired emotion without the slightest
arriere pensee of use.
